Everyone needs more licks, and I’m the man to give them to you! Enjoy the 3rd edition of my popular Bag O’ Licks in G series!

I like the fact that you named them. I think my favorite is “slip & slide” or “banjo-eque”, but I might get the most mileage out of “delay the 1”

can you do more fingerstyle hymns?

Yep!

Could you add this lick to a song as an example of how it is used? Loving it!!

Boystrong text

I was limited in what instruments I could play for a few months ad ended up doing an intermediate fingerstyle ukulele arrangement of “How great Thou art.” If anyone would want it, I could tab it out.

I’m loving the new Bag O’ Licks, @BanjoBen! Thanks!! These licks are so much fun, I thought I’d stick them in a simple tune to try them out! And they only filled 3/4 of the song without repeating any, so I stuck in one Jake Workman lick and one Tony Rice lick at the end to round things out.

My favorite is The Caterpillar :bug:

Wham!

Also, the Jake lick sounds suspiciously like the Tony chordy lick without the bass note. Lucy heard me play it at Galax and said it sounds like one Libby plays a lot… the irony! :joy:

Great - so you copy me, I copy Jake, and Jake copies Tony (adding improvements) :+1:

No, I copy Tony, Jake copies Tony, you copy Jake, you inadvertently copy me cause I must have been here first.

Alternatively

Let Tony = time traveler

Tony > copies Jake in 2020 > travels to 1993 > produces records > Michael listens and copies > Jake, unbeknownst, teaches Libby > Libby copies Jake > because of time travel, copies Tony, who copied Jake > hole occurs in spacetime

You mean to tell me you were around in 93?

um… time travel?

Ok ok. You said Tony traveled. You were just there (“Michael listens”).
