Discuss the Guitar lesson: Bag O' Licks- Key of D

https://banjobenclark.com/lessons/bag-o-licks-key-of-d-guitar

In this lesson, I offer you 10 HOT D licks that range in style and length. We’ll start with the D version of the “G Run”, then move into up-the-neck licks, blues notes, triplets and more!

Hi Ben,
Noticed that Bag O Lick Key D (Advanced) doesnt have any MP downloads available. Was that intentional?. I noticed that Key of E does. I can survive with the TEF files, but sometimes its nice to kick back and listen to real, non-midi licks. BTW, I have joined and /or belong to a number of guitar lesson memberships, and from the get-go, one of the niceest features you offer is the TEF files already created. Thanks a million BRO! Everybody offers PDF Tabs, but, I want to play guitar, not enter notes into a Tablature app. Thanks. Great lessons, having alot of fun. Blessings! (Jesus here any day, lets make sure our houses are in order! See you at the wedding supper of the Lamb.) Regards, Rob “The Watchman”

Thanks! I probably didn’t create them because it’s only licks over the D chord and not other chords.

Hey Banjer Ben. I have had a hard time playing upstrokes on the bag o’ licks. I have been really practicing it because I know it is so important. I feel like I have improved, but I still feel myself leaning more towards downstrokes. Do you have any tips for me? Or like an exercise that I can practice?

Thanks
-Silas

Hi Silas,

Sometimes it helps to go back to the basics.

You’re welcome!

Have fun!

If you still have problems you can always post a video of you playing for Ben and he will respond with some good insights to help you over the hump.

That is cool. I did not know that.
I know how important downstrokes and upstrokes are. My fiddle teacher is very picky about that(well I guess it wouldn’t be “strokes” then, I mean down bow).
I will practice it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, bow direction and when you change is a huge part of fiddling!
I’m taking instruction on the fiddle as well and have run across some real challenges with the bow lately that have greatly improved the dynamics of my playing.

Howdy @silaslee.b! @Fiddle_wood posted some great vids! Let me know what you think after watching them. But yes, it’s important to get fluent with upstrokes if we want to gain speed, etc.

Thank you guys so much. Those videos helped. I will practice it more, and hopefully I can get it down.
