Hi @jk1,
Good to see you back!
Thanks!
Merci ! I’m French ! I enjoy your lessons even if I don’t understand all what you say ! maybe because of your cowboy accent

Howdy,
I did basic melody work on both mando (cabin fever contest) and guitar (after contest).
This banjo lesson just sounds too awesome to not go for it all the way!
Hopefully having some prior practice with the melody will serve me well in this study.
Thanks Ben, for having such an amazing site and gift for playing and teaching.
Best,
Brooks
Hello, I was wandering if there was a up the neck version to this. I see it on YouTube for others. If it’s possible would like to learn it if you had it.
I need to create that, thanks!
I notice at the end of measure 5 and beginning of measure 6 there is a right hand finger 1 - 2 - 1. I can’t get much over 160 bpm doing my right hand pointer and social fingers back and forth. What is your philosophy on that? Do you try to avoid 121 or you get up to speed easily so it doesn’t bother you? Same on the basic pdf on the Intermediate Worried Man Blues lesson - lots of 121s. I’m not sure whether to practice my 12121 more or rewrite and avoid them. Thanks.
A 1/2/1 will be common when you have a forward / reverse roll. Try to think of it as 2 separate rolls.
You shouldn’t need to practice 1/2/1/2. That’s extremely rare. You’ll most likely get your thumb involved before you play that very often.
Practice them, yes. As Mark says, my philosophy is to get the thumb involved where possible, but you’re not going to avoid them. Isolate and practice!
