Discuss the Banjo lesson: Target Note Timing

This lesson is from when I taught my most recent Virtual Cabin Camp! The idea is to spruce up your playing by moving your target notes back or forward in time. All great players do it, and many banjo students don’t realize what they’re hearing, or why they love it so much.

This lesson reminds me so much of and makes me feel so much of football and a running back juking someone. The regular timing is you run right up into a guys face and make a quick fake to the right and go left. bang bang. The delay the target note (which sounds the best to me) is like he had done this to you before and you get ready for the quick fake and cut, but then he fakes right, leaves the leg there for a half second or stutter step taking the time when he would make the cut and Then makes the cut. The timing is exactly the same.
