Real Deal lessons are designed to give you the street level skills to play! In this lesson, we’ll take a common chord progression in the key of D and explore the classic rolling backup used by so many great banjo pickers!

WOW @BanjoBen this lesson has really got me stoked. Banjo Backup AND in the Key of D what more can I say. I really love the Level 3 section with those deep mellow tones

Oh my! This sounds like it’s going to be an amazing lesson. I can’t wait to sit down with this.

I don’t know if you could have given me a better bday gift. It’s like you knew exactly what I wanted. Thanks!

Hi @BanjoBen I just want to say what a really great lesson this is. It took me a wee while to get into it but I soon found my fingers flowing through each level with ease. The Shave and a Haircut ending was the icing on the cake. I’ve revisited the Real Deal Lessons in G & C in this series and each lesson complements the others. I encourage other banjo students to check these out.

Which five popular bluegrass tunes use the following chord progression DD GG AA DD? I want to practice my newly acquired banjo skills

If the lesson did it’s job, you don’t have to have a song with that exact chord progression.

Sure but I’d like to have some all the same

Here is what Google says:

Bluegrass songs with a 1-4-5 progression

Any of these are D - G - A if you have a girl sing them. :upside_down_face:
