First Edition - You mean there is MORE on the way @BanjoBen ? Like Playing Back Up in D ?

@Mark_Rocka wasn’t there a lesson you needed to keep reminding @BanjoBen to do ? I am sure it had something to do with the Key of D. This is just my reminder to remind you to remind Ben whatever it was you needed to remind him about. I have just forgotten what is was. maybe you can remember. Anyway this is just a friendly prod to make sure you aren’t falling asleep on the job.

Yes please!! We really could use more lessons in D, esspecially backup.

Yes. Waypoints in D, and then a lesson to tie them all together. Ben is unusually slammed with work right now, even more so than normal. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to discuss the details. So let’s just say Ben’s plate is incredibly full at the moment.

I kinda assumed that to be the case @Mark_Rocka - But hey @BanjoBen 's plate is always full especially when he visits Whataburger. - I know he will get to these lessons when he is able. Just having a little fun stirring up the vittles & gravy.

You see @BanjoBen all those years ago - I told you students needed lots of lessons on back up when no-one else was teaching backup. It really has become a very popular topic.

90% of the song is backup so that’s what we need loads of… I think Ben should give up flying lessons and give us more of this great backup :grinning:

Wishful thinking Lee. That’s never going to happen

I hope it’s full with some good brisket. He seems to have a soft spot for that.

Wonderful lesson! And more to come possibly. After learning much backup at the Montana camp my goal is to get so I can do this stuff in my sleep. My only regret after getting home is the lack of recall.
This takes care of that and makes me happy to have all the resources on the web site. Thanks Ben and the very best to you.

Hi Ben,

Great lesson… seems like playing backup is something that does not come easy. There are all types of lessons on how to play lead but playing the rhythm part can be tricky. Guitar players laugh at that statement and will say that is opposite of what they think.
Glad that you put that out there.

Hey thanks @BanjoBen for featuring me in your email that made my day😀

Great lesson. I would like to see this pattern used in a real song and learn how to adapt it for repetition of the cord past 2. e.g. 3 measures of g followed by 4 measures of c. OR any other combination. Of these cords.

Great lesson as always. I love the backup/rhythm lessons. Hot solos are like bluegrass dessert. Dessert is great. But rhythm is the meat and potatoes that you need to survive.

I do have one burning question from this lesson. Where does one find the hat that Ben is wearing. I can’t find it in the hat section of the store. ?

They’ll be on the site this week! They’re my new favorite hat!

This chord progression is from a real song. There are lots of songs with this exact chord progression.

Great question. I believe I say somewhere in the lesson that you can easily repeat what we’ve done. I give you 2 measures of C in this exercise. If there are 3 measures in the song you’re playing, repeat either of the measures you’ve already played. If there are 4 measures, repeat both the measures you’ve played. I will work to address this, perhaps in a way where we can participate together in a live setting. Thanks!
