Jim would agree that Ron is more talented. Ron would go on and on about how great Jim is.

@BanjoBen, what is the chord you play about
1:21 ish over ā€œlose all their guilty stainsā€? I love the way that sounds! Is it a variant of the 7th chord?

You guessed correctly! It’s a Bb chord, which is just a straight flat 7 chord in the key of C. That chord isn’t diatonic to the key, but when you play it, it makes a good jarring, strong transition to the 4 chord.

If you were to play a C7 to lead to the F chord, you’d be adding a Bb note to the C chord. Here, we’re taking that and just playing the whole chord built around that tension-adding note, which can make the transition even stronger.

Thanks, @Michael_Mark! I’ve done that a few times using the F in a song in the key of G! I really like the sound of that!

Okay, I’m gonna have to come back! I’ve been playing that Bb as a barre A on the first fret, but I can’t get it to sound exactly like his does. What fingering is being used here? Is there an easier way to do the Bb?

Wow, thanks, Michael! I’ll have to give those a try when I get my guitar out again!
