What things do you need to begin playing banjo? Do I really need all that? Adam boils it down so you can know exactly what you need. Don’t forget to check out the vids for guitar and mandolin as well! Simply click on the links beneath the video window above.

Perfect! I’m “brand new” to learning to play the banjo, and just became a Gold Pick member. This video is exactly what I needed. The instructional videos are exceptional! Truly, greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum, @AlexB. Loads of information can be found in Ben’s lessons, but the support you get here is outstanding as well. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you have. Lots of experience in these pages. Good luck on your journey.

Welcome to the forum!

You might want to check out the “Banjo Learning Track” of you’re fairly new to the five-string.

Hey Banjo Ben,
I was wondering what hardshell banjo case in like the $100-$200 dollar range you would suggest.

Great question! I honestly don’t have a favorite, but I’ll say that all within that price range in my store are worth the price. I think this is a great one: https://store.banjobenclark.com/collections/cases-gig-bags/products/guardian-cg-020-j-hardshell-case-for-5-string-resonator-banjo

Hi, I just signed on for a year. I’ve been fake playing for years but i want more substance.
Anyway, you mention the head tension reader but not a word about how to adjust the head tension should it be off.
