We’ve all heard these licks, now it’s time to know what they are and make them our own!

Doug Richardson! You’ve joined the ranks of the immortal!
On a separate note, this is an excellent sister lesson to the banjo neck patterns lesson I’m working on now.
Our neighborhood has been swamped with paparazzi since this video came out, taking pictures of the trailer and interviewing neighbors…pretty sure we just saw Geraldo Rivera going through our trash cans
Great to see you on here, Doug!
Who are all the forum members that are among the ranks of the immortal now? Doug, @Mark_Rocka, @Archie, and @MissMaggie?
That’s all I can remember, but there are a lot of lessons outside of banjo I haven’t watched.
Good to see you back on the board, Doug!
Although I feel like @Dragonslayer may have been mentioned in at least one lesson, but I can’t remember.
If I have it was a lesson I didn’t watch… I was mentioned in a lick challenge video though
Kudos for the lesson, just what I needed. Metronome and a few hours and it really is helping me get familiar with the chord positions again!
Another great BB lesson. Thanks
@BanjoBen, thanks for this lesson! This is really the kind of something I’ve wanted, but didn’t know exactly what to call it.
@pfcbeetlebailey thanks for making the request, and I hope Geraldo didn’t find anything incriminating.
Thank you Ben!
Hi Ben, I notice that you didn’t use the barre position. Is there a reason not to use it with pentatonic scale? Thanks for a great lesson, really opening up the finger board for me!
Great question. I think the answer is the barre position isn’t used as much when playing up the neck. You technically do use the barre position when you play a pentatonic lick using open strings.
Ben, I have an off topic question…Would it be possible to do a study of Jerry Garcia’s playing on the album Old and in the Way…He does some really cool back and lead things…I believe he is doing a lot of backward rolls…
Just a thought…
Thank you for all you do my friend…
Mike
Hi @banjomueller Mike you might be interested in Sean Ray’s book which will give you an insight to Jerry Garcia’s style of playing . Check out Sean’s website at https://seanray.com/
