Discuss the Banjo lesson: Bag O' Licks- Up & Down the Neck

https://banjobenclark.com/lessons/bag-o-licks-up-down-the-neck-banjo-advanced

These licks were crafted as I considered fancy and fun ways to go up and down the neck, connecting two common playing positions! They work for slower, swingy tunes as well as toe tappers…if you can get 'em fast enough!

Brilliant lesson and a great follow up to your recent Minor Chords Shapes & Drill Lesson.

Whist I have your attention I have a suggestion for a future lesson at the Top of the House. Frets 17 thru 22. I see a lot of pickers go up there and doing really fancy stuff but search as I might I cant find anyone covering that area of the neck in any great detail other than the Scruggs lick that reaches up to the 17th and teardrop backup stuff

Edited… my first post could have been taken as an endorsement of illegal drugs. I’ll try again.

Great job. I like these very much. :facepunch:

Great lesson! However, when I try to open the PDF I am getting an error message.

Hello @btoll1019, could it be an issue with the pdf reader?? I could download and open successfully,

Try refreshing the page and let us know if that works :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey Ben.
Can you tell us more about the Davis Banjo you are playing?
Is it one of his specific models, or a customized model.
Really liked the way it sounds.

I believe a standard Granada model (I should know!). It’s a gold plated flying eagle, maple pot and neck. I dig it!

I always enjoy your bag o’ licks lessons. I’m currently fired up after coming off of the usual 3 day cabin camp high. I just counted at least 14 BoL lessons, but have you ever done a lesson where you teach how you (specifically you) go about making these licks a permanent part of your lick vocabulary?

I’d enjoy seeing your approach.
