There are a few lessons on the site that I consider “groundbreaking.” This is one of them. Let’s apply this bad boy.

Been having a lot of fun these past two weeks revisiting this 6th Interval Backup Course. Now that I have this knowledge in my bag of tricks I am struggling to find any slow tunes where I can use this style of backup. Would welcome a few song suggestions from Ben’s Banjo community.

I’m loving this lesson. Anybody have some favorite recordings to play along with?

@thako My current favorite is “I Thought I Heard You Callin My Name” off of Danny Paisley’s Room Over Mine album. However, if I’m not mistaken, that tune requires learning how to begin 6th intervals on the barred position which I think was missing here in this lesson. When you listen to the break on this tune, begin playing the 1st and 3rd strings on the barred E. Then keep your index on the 9th fret to form an A chord in a d position, walk up to B, and then D in an F shape and you’re on your way.

Hi @Archie, try “Fraulein” and “Steal Away & Pray”.

hey @BanjoBen great lesson!

Just a little note, personally I find it is easier and a bit more productive to think in scale degrees rather than X e Y position - When you said play “G in X position” (Am) - I got confused at first thinking I was playing a G major chord again.

So being aware you are jumping diatonically through the scale while naming the actual tonic and the degree you are on may help some of the students, Cheers

Actually, this lesson covers pretty much all I have mentioned here. Sorry I did not get to it before making this comment lol
