I haven’t heard a story (don’t know if it’s true) about a John Hartford interview. He was asked what Gentle on My Mind means and he answered something like - “It means I get to go whatever I want in my life now.” :grinning:

I think Del McCoury brought the backup band to this gathering. Jason Carter, Rob McCoury and Mike Bub are are all there as the house band.

The Band Perry has a great recording of Gentle on My mind. The banjo is prominent in couple of spots, and the dobro is in there some also as backup. I believe the recording was done as part of the Glen Campbell tribute documentary.
