So, Jesse, @Oldhat2 , suggested “hey let’s do a/some songs totally by ear” back in like mid February.
One of the songs was this one. I’d not heard this version till he sent me the link to it. What we do is try to play the song/figure it out 100% by ear. No chord sheets, tabs, videos, nothing but hitting the repeat button 1000’s of times, trial & error, old school. This was a tough one for me. The video below is where I was at about a month ago. Due to not been playing much lately, and not being home, I’ve not improved much on this video. A little bit here & there is all. (That’s why I’m posting this one and not a new one) 1st real mando break was a wash as I kinda had neglected it cuz I was working mostly on the big mando break at the end which still needs work… (stay tuned till the end-end for that.)
Thank you Jesse for suggesting another round of by ear stuff. I’ve really enjoyed working on this ‘project’. It’s really helped my playing. And Thanks @BanjoBen for putting those new lessons out there along these same ‘play it by ear’ lines - alot of folks are going to benefit from that!
In the meantime I’ll be working to clean up all the mistakes on this and hopefully at some point get a “clean” recording to share.
