Are there any lessons to learn Ballad of Jed in the beginner series? I just started playing and I’m hooked. Thanks Ben for this website
Beginner version Ballad of Jed Clampett
I’d go to banjohangout.org and search for it there. Pretty sure they’ll have some tabs for that one. I think Ben has trouble making arrangements for some songs due to copyright stuff.
I did find one version of The ballad of Jed Clampet on BH. It does have a TEF download. If you don’t already have it, get TEF view (free). You can play along with a midi version of the printed music. You will also have the ability to change speed to help you learn then gradually speed up as you become more familiar. If you can swing it, you may get Tabledit. With that you can do a little more such as tab your own arrangements. One of my favorite things is simply the ability to add a couple of measures of clicks to allow you time to get on the fret board after pressing play and also set the tempo before you have to start playing. Ben’s arrangements typically already have this, but things you download from other sources usually don’t.
Hi @bigrobbin Robbin to @BanjoBen 's Forum the quick and simple answer is no. The Ballad of Jed Campett I believe is copyright and Ben doesn’t teach tunes that are copyright. As suggested you may find TAB online if you try searching Google.
Here are some lessons on YouTube

Thanks everyone for the info. Like I said I’m a real beginner but I’m having a blast with this.
As a Beginner myself, I often have an “expert opinion.”
I too get a kick out of picking old “Jed Clampett.” It’s the kind of song you can sorta pick out yourself without any tabs. Mind you, it’s not the way Earl played it, but I found that noodling around and trying to find the melody has really helped me understand how the banjo works…and that’s more my goal. I don’t want to be tied to tabs. I want to get the music out of my head and into the banjo. Tabs only tell me how other people play it. That’s a good thing, but don’t be afraid to venture into the unknown by yourself. There are many pleasant surprises waiting for you there!
Here’s the Bela Fleck version: https://idoc.pub/documents/ballad-of-jed-clampett-banjo-tab-d47ew8y68jn2

Welcome to the forum!
Jim Pankey also has a version I believe that is pretty basic. You can search for it on youtube as well.
thank you. I’ll check it out
