Banjo Nut

Can anyone provide insight on banjo nuts? I’m trying to a brighter tone on my banjo, and am thinking about getting a replacement.

Hey there @Treblemaker. Did you ever change the nut on your banjo. I had to replace a broken nut on an old banjo and it really raised the action. I suspect I need to file it down. This is my first time replacing a nut so it’s trial and error.
