Anyone want to share if they have given their beloved banjo a special name ???
If so, kindly share any background info for your name selection.
Banjo names
I named my Stelling Masterflower Rachel after Rachel Price daughter of Steve Noon of Eagle Music Huddersfield West Yorkshire England who took time out at the weekend to help complete the transaction. Alas I donât have names for my other seven banjos.
So I guess it has to be Rachel Price and the 7 banjos. Hi Ho
Normally I do not name inanimate objects, but a banjo is a living thing. It needed a special name. I gave it the best name I could think of. I call it âMy Banjo.â
My resonator banjo is a Nechville Classic with a nicely striped tiger maple neck, so I named it Hobbes after the tiger in Calvin and Hobbes. I have a small open back built by Dave Dillard. Itâs called Traveler since it fits nicely in our small camper. I also have a special order OME open back based on the Oracle model, so thatâs named Moses. And finally, Dave Dillard recently built me a 13â open back with a dog inlay. Itâs got a huge sound, so I named it Barkley.
My wife has named my banjo Jolene, after the Dolly Pardon songâŚapparently, I spend quite a bit of time with her.
Love it!
I didnât name it before this thread, so it doesnât really count. Nonetheless, I have dubbed mine âTwanger danger.â
Thanks so much for sharing everybody. I omitted mentioning what I call my beloved ⌠banjo that is !!!
I named it âBogie -Jakeâ. One was a chocolate lab and the other was a golden retriever. Both were put down after the onset of age & medical conditions. They would always sit in the doorway of my practice area and subject themselves to hours of arduous, repetitive auditory trauma !!! (and never complained) !!!
Talk about being a manâs âbest friendâ !!!
Me and my brothers have our own band, and all considered naming our instruments after farm birds. Iâm thinking about naming my Gold Tone Drake, since my fiddler brother already took Rooster, though that was my first pick.
My other brother named his bass Turkey, which he thinks is hilarious, but our dobro player hasnât picked out a name yet, neither has the mandolinist.
Dodo for the dobro
I love that! He probably wonât go for it though. Something about the word âDodoâ
