Banjo conversion

This could be a dumb question but, is it possible to convert an open back banjo to a closed back banjo? and if so how much would it cost?

No question is ever dumb here on @BanjoBen’s Forum. Yes it is possible to convert an open back banjo to a resonator banjo. As to the cost? That I cannot answer that would need to be calculated by a Luthier we are talking knowledge & skills, labour and material cost’s.

Then you have to consider the sound the converted banjo will produce. Will it sound better or not, Does the cost of the conversion justify the outlay?

If you were to ask me for my honest opinion I would seriously suggest to start saving and check out all the great closed back banjo’s @BanjoBen has for sale at the General Store click on the link below and scroll down to see what Ben has in stock. I see you are a Gold Pick Member so you are already eligible for a discount, but I encourage you to have a chat with Ben he might even work out a great deal for you. If Ben asks who sent you tell him Archie! I am on commission LOL. Just joking nod-and-a-wink

If you’re looking to do this to possibly save money and time, you probably won’t be able to achieve that.
