Banjo Camp

Mt. Juliet, TN?

Cool…I’m 7 hours away.

My wifes a chef and does phenominal BBQ. Maybe she can come and help with food.

I spent less than 2 minutes on that shirt design and was not too serious about it. I’m sure we can come up with something a lot better.

Thanks for the info @fiddle_wood . I am going to go next year for sure. The inlaws are celebrating their 50th Anniversary that weekend and I can’t think of a good way to get out of going to that.

Let’s all slow down until we hear from Ben… as it sounds like he has some med concerns to tend to.

He needs our support and prayers before we push this on him, yes?

What is the latest, Ben?

This is a great idea but we all know Ben is super busy. I was amazed the concept got this far. lol.

Listen, this is a definite plan that I want to do. My plan is to have 2 or 3 a year–one in the west in Boise, one in mid-west in Missouri at @Jake’s, and one here in Tennessee. Yes, the ankle surgery does mess me up a bit, but doesn’t take me out. Lord willing I’ll be up and walking around by September. Let me keep thinking, but it’s good to see actual interest in attending. The plan would be to make it mulit-instrument and have my sisters help with the instruction.

It’s closer to Kingston

I think I smell someone combining elk hunting with banjo pickin’. Boise’s close enough I could ride a mule over the hill to get there. Maybe I’ll stop off and double my grub stake at those fancy casinos along the way. Still, I wonder about the wisdom of combining firearms and banjos. I’ve been playing the same lick pretty consistently for two or three days and I think the wife is getting a little frayed on that particular piece of music. I thought I’d take a moment and compose this reply to give her a break.

Haha! Yes, your sniffer has not failed you!

Wow, I love the idea of a camp. What if you don’t play banjo? Guitar, Fiddle and bass, but no banjo. Can I come too?

Yeah, i’m thinking it needs to be banjo/guitar/mando…all three.

Wow! Boise is in driving distance of us! That would be super cool! Kaleb is headed to banjo camp in Weiser, ID in three days. He’s super excited because Alan Munde will be there!

I would be interested as well! Sounds like a great idea!

Hi @BanjoBen When you hold these camps have you given any thoughts to the possibilities of recording these events so that oversea students who are unable to travel/attend can at least have a virtual experience especially with the jam sessions. I assume since it’s banjo/guitar/mando there will be an element of basic backup instruction so that folks attending can experience playing with others

I highly recommend getting a decent head count now so we have time to catch enough possums. It will likely take a lot to feed all these banjo players in one place.

Okay, I’m beginning official plans. I’ve secured catering for the camp. I know that sounds like a weird first step, but this guy is the best cook I’ve ever eaten from. He can cook anything, and anything he cooks is outstanding. His specialties, however, are BBQ, breads, and desserts. Everything we have to eat will be handmade if possible. I’m going to start a new thread where we can start discussing more details of the camp like dates, etc. You can find that here: Banjo Ben's Inaugural Camp & BBQ Bash Introduction!
