Banjo Buzzing

Any ideas why my banjo would be buzzing on each string at the second fret? Thanks!

I’m not a luthier or experienced set-up guy, but AFAIK the three main causes of buzzes are a nut issue, a bridge issue, and a relief/truss rod issue. If it only buzzes when fretted at the second fret, that rules out the nut issue. If it’s all the strings buzzing at the same fret, it seems unlikely that it’s something in the bridge slots. I would guess that the problem is in the relief/truss rod, or possibly fret height or alignment. I would probably start by checking my relief and action against the measurements in these lessons with Steve Huber:

Thanks, @Michael_Mark! It’s been this way ever since I got back from Missouri in March, and it’s getting annoying!

If all the strings are buzzing at 2, it could be a fret issue as well. Fret two could be too low or loose. Fret three (or maybe higher) could be too high. Both a loose fret or uneven frets are typically easy to resolve

Nothing further to add except maybe get it checked out by a pro luthier
