Sounds like a winner! Thanks!
Hi, Coming from New Orleans, anyone along my way?
I will be leaving New Orleans on Wednesday, April 27th headed to Nashville Camp, anyone along the route? I havent picked a hotel yet and would love suggestions, I think staying in the same hotel would be great. Also, anyone bringing another (non Camp) instrument to play? If so, what are you bringing? I am excited and cant wait to meet all yall.

Stephanie welcome to the forum!
Sadly, I wonāt be attending this camp, but I have been to camp(s) in the past. Youāre going to have the best musical weekend ever! Enjoy!
Sorryā¦didnāt catch that you are going to the banjo only camp. Iām going to the one earlier in the week.
Iām a little bummed that there isnāt more chatter in this topic about the upcoming campā¦but my wife will tell you there there is a LOT of chatter about it here in our house. What does she mean by āobsessedā anyway? This is my first cabin camp and also the first time Iāve DRIVEN somewhere in a long time; Iām a retired airline pilot with some good travel benefitsā¦but all the little āstuffā that I wanna bring along (plus a stop in Townsend, TN to buy a dulcimerā¦why?..wanna surprise wife with it) has me driving. Anyway, Iāve already got a box of ālittle thingsā to bring with (extra battery for electronic tuner, extra batteries for Tascan recorder (my music teacher suggested I record some jam sessions), box-o-pics, etcā¦Iām a week out and Iām sorta already packing. This is my first Cabin Camp and the first time Iāve taken my mandolin (and Ovation Baladeer guitarā¦.I can do about 3 Hank Williams songs on that) out in public. Iāve gotten over the jitters, now Iām just flat-out excited and ready to get there and get it going!
Iāve got a separate thread going for some pre-camp jamminā. Iām at the Mt. Juliet Quality Inn and Suites and am hoping to do some jamminā (again, first time out in public) with others of you in the courtyard, gazebo, whatever they got. Iāll start around 3;30 Saturday afternoon and we can move to a better place if there is a better place at a nearby hotel.
Meanwhileā¦somebody please speed up the calendar so we can get to Cabin Camp!
Pick On!
Ron
Iām with ya, friend. Leaving Atlanta to drive there around noon. Canāt wait!
I agree. You make me wish I would have picked your camp over the all banjo camp.
Contact Benā¦.maybe heāll let you switch?
Me too. The anxiety is building, no, no, the excitement is building! Yep Yep Yep. As I mentioned Iām extending the front end of this trip a bit but itās all music related so how cool is that? I have watched a lot of the Cabin Camp recap and other videos and I am really excited to be going to something like this. I think being surrounded by all these bluegrass sounds, players, experts, teachers, fellow learners will just be awesome. Iāll have to tell you about my early exposure to bluegrass and my fatherās uncles playing it and passing out one by one as the afternoons went on. I didnāt understand it then but itās funny nowā¦but their music was amazing. See you soon!
One week to go till my first Cabin Camp! Is it too early to pack the car?
Iām packing now.
I confessā¦I have a small box on the floor where I am placing small things as I come across them. I have an excellent packing list, too! See you soon!

So hereās a funny. Today I upgraded my membership to lifetime. I did not tell my wife that.
I DID tell my wife that the āfinal detailsā email came out, complete with reporting instructions (thatās military talk for when and where to beā¦LoL) and gave her a brief synopsis of the email.
Her response: āYeah, youāll be leaving in 2 daysā and added a big smile. Can you just feel the love dripping off this woman? Well, I supposed I have been a TAD obsessed about this experience. I know it will live up to all the hype and excitement.
As Iāve mentioned before Iāve added some time to this tripā¦gonna take my time driving down and head over to Knoxville on Friday to see a couple friends of mine play at the Hey Bear Cafe. āSouthern Spiritā is a pair of guys who have written a lot of music and itās good, clean, old country style stuff. Gonna visit a dulcimer shop and then on Saturday head over to Mt. Juliett. Iāll probably go to church in the morning and pray for some good pickinā abilities to magically appear! LoL
Iām thinkinā Iāll go in the den and tell my wife I got this email again. Just to wind her up a bit! LoL
Man, pretty soon sheās gonna be getting suspicious about where the money is going
LoL. Actually she is kinda wealthy and we have āher moneyā, āmy moneyā and a little bit of āour moneyā so she wonāt have a clue!
Benā¦ whatcha gonna have for us campers to buy while we are thereā¦ I am gonna want to spend some dough.
