I’ve reported on this jam before…I’m SO jazzed to have a weekly jam to attend. The Australian pickers are very friendly and a lot of fun to play with. Yesterday I visited with the washboard player a bit…he’s real proud of his washboard and it adds a lot to the jam. We had a good mix yesterday…couple banjos, 3 fiddles, a lot of mandolins, even a ukulele or two. The guy running the jam announced that the monthly Fast Jam and Slow Jams are back on the scheduled (they play in a converted bowling alley or something and it had been closed for renovation.) So…Thursday evening I’ll be back on the bus heading to another jam.
Back home (Wisconsin) I’m lucky to get to a half dozen jams a year, if that. (Band camp doesn’t count.). A friend of mine and I scheduled 4 for the year; I’m trying to get him to host a monthly one but he hasn’t signed on yet. I’d do it but I’m not reliable…tend to be out of country about 4 - 5 months a year.
