Announcing the new Headin' Home album: Down Where the Grass Is Blue!

A brand of pickups, mics, and sound gear

you weren’t plugged in tho were you??

Yes he does. A total of 4 sources for his sound… 3 mics and a pickup. I can’t do all that though!

When?

when you record or perform live.

When I recorded, no… the engineer set up two mics in stereo in front of me but I can’t remember the brand of either, just that he said they were worth $5000. :joy:

Live, yeah there’s a cord coming out of my endpin jack; I have the preamp clipped to the back of my strap, and then a wireless transmitter also on the bottom of the preamp carrying the signal to the receiver on the board.

ok. That makes more sense. I really like the sound your guitar has live. Or I should say, I LOVE the sound your whole band has live. Ya’ll do a good job imitating your heroes.

Thanks! Although I don’t really totally know what my live sound is these days. I had gotten used to the DPA, which sounded great, it was just creating so many feedback issues; so now I’m trying to settle into this new system. I think I like it though so far.

I think it would be cool to get some instrument mounted mics like LRB. But I never play live so it’d be a waste as of now :joy:

If you haven’t already bought a DI for it, a ToneDexter is a wonderful impedance matched DI for the transducers. I love that thing. It made my K&K instruments (OM18 and a flat top mandolin) and my wife’s Taylor sound phenomenal plugged in.

No I haven’t gotten a DI box but I’ve been thinking about it. Can you share a link?

Here you go! You do have to train it, but I think it is well worth it. I have a Martin with a Fishman F1 that I thought was unbeatable. The tonedexter brings every instrument I have trained it with sound in the same zip code. If you want an offline conversation or call about it shoot me an IM.

Thanks so much! So this goes between the preamp and the board?

That is correct. Since you already have a preamp in the trinity system, you won’t get as much value from the tonedexter, but it may still be worth it. My wife’s Taylor has an onboard preamp and it still makes a huge difference with it. You’d have to try it to figure out if it was a good fit for you.
