With all of the bad news in the world with the media pitting people against one another, I figured a more unifying message is overdue is the reason I am posting this lovely song.
A little diversion
Ain’t it the truth! They treat every story as a sporting event, with Side A vs Side B.
Not every story involves conflict, but they find a way to do it.
Recently I decided the biggest problem our country faces is confusion.
And confusion is a perfect tool for the Prince of Lies.
Sporting event sounds like a good analogy, Anymore I tune out of the news, for the simple reason, if I am having a good day, I don’t wish to be brought down. Pretty hard to get away from however.
Hard to get away from, but not too hard to separate wheat from chaff. The easiest way is to see if the story is still in the news one week from now. If it ain’t then it really wasn’t news.
Another way is to pay close attention to the first two sentences. If the words “So-and-so reports”, “social media,” “recent polls” or “reaction” occur, it is not news. It something to fill up space.
We should all keep in the news media is first & foremost a business, and its primary business is to make money. That is why any story that begins with a sentence, followed by a second sentence such as “we’ll have complete details right after this message,” then nothing said after the message is important. The money comes first.
BTW- The first sentence is generally very inflammatory and far from accurate. Often it is in the form of a question.
“Why would President Biden meet with Donald Trump to discuss gun control in the transgender commmunity? We’ll have that story right after this.”
Seems to be a lot of stories about dogs attacking kids these days. That’s the type of stuff you can’t unhear to where I make a conscious effort to try and avoid those stories altogether.
You’re right about the money, especially when it comes to paying no-talent anchors whose names or networks I won’t mention here but are making north of seven figures. Not only that, but many of these overpaid news anchors don’t even like this country. On that note I think I will play another song in keeping in the spirit of the thread. Not sure given the times we live in, if such a song has lost some of it’s luster but hope springs eternal. You’ll hear the word “free” as in freedom in the song, but just look at the word “free” as a relative term. If that is how people who view this see it, then, you always have the nostalgia angle.
Oh yeah, and would add, those gut-wrenching stories they keep you on the edge of your seat for, are left for the last minute of the show while the audience are kept in suspense with filler material.
