Woohoo!

Just signed up a week or so ago. I feel behind in getting all of the songs reasonably understood, but will do my best! On Cripple Creek, am I to assume we need to be practicing the advanced version? Thanks so much and really looking forward to it.

Honestly, don’t worry about learning a version note for note. It’s more important to be familiar with the songs, get comfortable with the chords, and just try to have a solo that you can volunteer to play. NO PRESSURE

Hey Ben! How can you say to have a solo ready to play, then say no pressure lol! I dont know how to solo thats one of the reasons why Im taking the camp  Do you mean as in a solo like from the pickalong list? Not an improv solo, correct? Im sure Im just overthinking things, but what if we are solo-deficient? Ive never been to a proper picking circle and dont really know what to expect when playing with strangers. Thank you good sir!

My message to you is this: no worries at all! No, you will not be expected to improv a solo.

I would encourage you to try and learn some basic melody solos for songs on the camp song list. That way, you can have something to try out when we’re playing together. Excited to host you!

Ben, I just wanted to thank you and your team again for another outstanding camp experience. As you know this was my fourth one and they have all been top notch, super fun, and incredibly educational. Especially for a novice banjo picker as myself.

Please let your team know how much I appreciate all their work and effort and let them know that it did not go unnoticed.

I have TONS to practice now that camp is over but that seems to be the norm every year. I walk away with some new friends and more licks, rolls, techniques, and songs to practice than I know what to do with.

Keep up the great work and good luck with your shoulder.

Eric
