2/4 time

Why has the 2/4 time never been demonstrated. It’s hard to practice with a metronome when you’re not sure how to play the song in 2/4. Most if not all of Earl Sruggs music is in 2/4.

Hi @johncooper2006 John No one teaches cut time at least I have never come across anyone who does. It’s hard enough to play a sixteenth note slide can you imagine what it would be like trying to explain and demonstrate a thirty two note embellishment. Learn how to play in 4/4 time then practice speeding things up.

Most folk who study Earl slow down his recordings

Maybe this video will help

I just like to see a demonstration to see what it looks like. I hardly use a metronome anyway, due to the music doesn’t sound like the song you’re trying learn with all the notes on a banjo tab. I think a lot of the teachers should teach a basic melody and then add the slides, pull offs, and hammers.
