What are y'all up to?

hahahaha! All good!

Hey, speaking of skiing…and since you and I share the same birth year and birthday…

Last spring my wife said “What would you like to do for your birthday?”. One thing led to another and she said “just pick anything you want and we’ll do it”. I kind of laughed and said “I want to go skiing on July 14th”.

Well we all (5 of us) flew to Austria and went skiing and tubing on top of the Hinter Tux glacier. We stayed close to the glacier in a town called Mayerhofen Austria. Beautiful place, rented a cabin on the side of the alps about 1/2 mile up the side of a mountain. We then went down to Italy for 3 weeks.

I think I’ve been to 22 different countries and all over the U.S. For a person to go through an entire life without seeing Austria would be a shame. Man it’s beautiful and 100% all outdoor activities. Base jumping, skiing, white water rafting, etc.

Happy Anniversary…Break a leg!

Well happy anniv @BanjoBen & Hannah! And enjoy that powder skiing! Originally from the northeast, and used to skiing packed ice, or heavy wet stuff (killington vt, jay peak vt and surrounding) always dreamed of skiing powder! And the snowmobile ride! Make sure you dont lose Hannah off the back of the mobile, did that once, and though it’s funny now, it wasnt at the time :thinking:

Now that I have my banjo picks back, I can start working on John Henry and When the Saints go Marching in BAB. Have fun skiing @BanjoBen, Skiing in WY sounds awesome. Ski season has started around here, but we have been hit with some unfavorable weather lately. To bad my job relies on there being snow on the ground. ing for snow.

Looks like I might be losing one of the big White Mulberries in my front yard. They marked all the underground lines today…only in part of my yard…can’t imagine another reason…seems strange, they just trimmed the two of them a few weeks ago (I have one in each front yard)…now they will only take out one?

Sorry, man! I hate losing trees when you don’t want to lose them.

Meanwhile, I’m taking an average of one hickory per hour down at my house (it seems!).

I don’t really mind. If it fails it’d take out my new steps I built & maybe the front porch.

I can do with less cleanup in the fall too.

Just seems strange to me that they’d only take the one.

Why are you losing trees? disease/insects? We’ve about had all ur Ash wiped out here form Ash Borers.

All our ashes will be done from the Borers in the next few years, I’ve lost 8-10 of those in my yard so far (I have a lot of trees). I don’t mind losing ashes, they’re not the prettiest. I’m taking hickories down now to make room for a pavilion I’m building for the camp. I had to rent a huge wedding-style tent last year and that would be a recurring expense, so I decided to build an open-air pavilion and be done with it! Plus we’d have power run to it and a fireplace on one end…it’ll be a great little concert venue!

New brake lines are all on the truck.

Had one line that was wrong/missing from the kit os had to make a trip to NAPA…ended up making a line for the missing one.

The ABS block was messed up (threads stripped), so hunted one up and it should be here in a few days.

New owners bought out the old family run mill in Missouri where I purchased my buckwheat pancake mix…something isn’t right with it now & their customer service leaves much to be desired…so found a new mill to try…some cert. organic place in Oregon…that was pretty sad…

First batch from a place in NY arrived in mail today. Hope it’s decent ,cause the stuff is getting near impossible to find anymore and I’m not about to switch to them little girlie buttermilk cakes.

Hey @oldhat40, very nice demonstration of the results of your fret board knowledge from scales learning! … if I described it right… Good original stuff…

This is from last September. We usually do a huge outdoor blowout every Labor Day, but this year we were going to Italy for 3 weeks a few days later, so we had small picking party instead. Alot of electric blues, a reunion of my old my band. And some of this. I wasn’t really ready. In fact I was in the kitchen mixing drinks when I recognized a Prine tune, so dropped what I was doing. First time anyone has every seen me stop in the middle of mixing drinks. I’m terrible at winging it, usually I have to map out breaks, but hey, it was my main man John Prine.
