I’m excited to announce my next virtual Cabin Camp, this time on guitar!

Instructors: Banjo Ben, Jake Workman, Trey Hensley

Date/Time: Tuesday, May 13, 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM US/Central

Topic: Becoming a Complete Guitar Player–Solos, Rhythm, & Improvisation Techniques

We’ll use the strengths of Jake & Trey (and there are many) to teach various aspects of being a bluegrass guitarists. Using a familiar bluegrass standard as our medium, we’ll learn how to create solos, provide tasty rhythm, and improvise!

Click HERE for more information and to register. We’ll email the PRIVATE MEETING LINK the day of camp.

If you’re attending, you can leave questions below for the teachers & I’ll do my best to work them in. You’ll also be able to submit questions during the Q&A portion of the camp.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

If you experience any technical issues during the live event, read the comments below!

Video Quality Issues/Freezing Video

  • You can select the gear icon in the bottom right of the video and change the quality. 1080p is the highest resolution. The higher resolution, the higher speed internet is required. Therefore, if you are experiencing blurry video, try selecting a lower resolution.
  • If the video starts to buffer or freeze, it may be your internet connection. Give it a few seconds and if the problem persists, refresh the page. If the internet speed is on our end, we’ll work to correct that as able. Watch the chat for any messages from an admin.

Audio Issues

  • If you can’t hear the audio, try listening to something else on your viewing device to verify it is in fact the live video that has no audio. Playing another audio source can verify it’s the output settings on your device and not the live stream. If other sources play audibly, there is a speaker icon in the video frame that can be muted. Make sure you’ve not muted the volume! If the problem persists, leave a comment to make sure you are or aren’t the only one experiencing audio loss!
  • If using headphones, some devices require you to change the “Sound Output” settings in your device. The default in this setting is typically your device speakers, so if you are using an external audio device, ensure you have selected the proper output setting.

Live Stream Interruption or Disconnection

  • We live in a crazy world, folks. Sometimes our connection to you can be cut due to severe weather, alien interference, or other rare circumstances that find themselves occurring in East Texas. If you lose the stream at any point, try refreshing the page and/or rebooting your internet connection. If the event is down on our end, we will email you a backup link. Keep your email handy and watch out for a new link if this does happen. We don’t believe we will have to utilize this process, but we have a good plan if so!

Remember, always ask yourself “is it me?” when you experience an issue with your connection, video quality, or audio. Sometimes a simple refresh of the page or a quick device inspection on your end can save you a headache. That being said, please feel free to leave a comment on the event chat feed! We want you to have the best experience possible, and someone on the chat may have experienced what you are experiencing.

Also remember, this entire event is being recorded. So, if you experience an issue with your equipment or internet speeds, you’ll be emailed the entire recording in the coming days.

  • If these steps do not resolve your issue, please text us at 615-512-6549.

Wow I’m glad I caught this announcement! I was wondering when you’d have a Virtual Guitar Camp. I’m considering signing up my grandson. I’m a bit intimidated though, those are two of the fastest players I know of. Is there a recommendation of intermediate to advanced abilities for this one?

Holy smokes man what a lineup. Can’t wait for that.

If I may take a guess here, Trey and Jake and Ben will cater this nicely to players of all levels, probably focusing toward upper intermediate/early advanced players - but they certainly won’t just shred the whole time. I know I’ve taken lessons with Jake for seven years now and he always comes down to my level. Both he and Trey (and obviously Ben!) are very relatable and encouraging teachers; they won’t make us feel like we’ve been left in the dust.

Of all the guitar players , you picked my absolute favorite . The way those guys make their guitars sound like machine guns makes me want to burn my guitar.

Every time I see a video of those guys I feel like I can shred .then I pick up my guitar and realize it’s a false reality I was in for second. Lol

I’m with you, @carson! I hear something and I’m like, “Oh, it can’t be that hard!” Then I utterly slaughter it when I try it!

One of the reason I love this site is the fact that @BanjoBen doesn’t charge bank just to show a lesson with more famous guitar players . Especially the lessons with Cody Killy and Kenny Smith . There is no videos I can find as professionally as @BanjoBen has set up. Thanks!!!

Hi @carson Andy If you purchase the Virtual Cabin Camp lesson @BanjoBen will send you a link after the Live Lesson is over that you can continue to access. I would encourage you to save the link to your device so you don’t have to hunt through tons of emails. Talking from experience.

I should add these Virtual Cabin Camp Lessons are EXTRA not part of your Gold Pick Membership you purchase them through the General Store. See the link below.

In my case, it’s not the guitar’s fault!

Good advice Archie, I neglected to do that for the Mandolin Virtual Camp. I’ll have to search through my emails and hopefully find it. :crossed_fingers:

It’s a real pain I can tell.

Sometimes I release portions of these types of things long after they’ve occurred, but not all of them. The Pro Picker case studies are a different type of lesson that is meant for all Gold Pickers. These virtual camp or Banjo Ben Live events are individually for-purchase, though Gold Pick members get a discount. Thanks!

Thanks . I wasn’t sure if you did or not. I’ll have to think about it. But to clarify, you do have to pay for all live lessons like these?

Yes, these are totally separate from the lessons on the site. These are like a one time workshop, and with the amazing teachers he has lined up, I’d say it’s well worth the price!
