Guitar to banjo

Thanks for the advice. Any thoughts on a brand of finger picks that I should start with. I’m very comfortable with playing with a thumb pick but have never had picks on the other fingers. VR, Scott

Hey Scott, Most folks start out (or end up) using National or Dunlop picks. I know I did. They are cheap, and you don’t have to worry if you lose one. That said, about 2-years ago, my brother in law bought me a JD Crowe thumbpick and Sammy Shelor Fingerpicks. After reaclimating to them, I absolutely love them, but they are expensive, so I guard them with my life.

All this said, Banjo Ben gives an outstanding lesson on this very topic right here https://banjobenclark.com/lessons/pickin-your-banjo-picks-banjo?from_track=beginner-banjo . Hard to beat this advise really.

Great video my friend. Thanks for taking the time to invest in me. I took good notes. Also went ahead and purchased the beginner banjo bundle from the general store. Thanks again. Vr, Scott

I would advise you purchasing an assortment of these, and be sure to watch my video on how to adjust your picks: https://store.banjobenclark.com/collections/picks/products/dunlop-nickel-fingerpicks

I also quit the banjo once already and sold a pretty decent Goodtime II in the process. There are days when I wish I had it back just to at least practice some rolls in between guitar plateaus.
