I’m sorry I missed the first one, but did watch afterward. I started mandolin and banjo with the hope of playing with my uncles who also play both. However Covid happened and being in different countries I could not visit. Then the mandolin uncle passed away. I’d love to get mando (hopefully banjo too) chords solid as I’ve avoided them to play with the banjo uncle this summer. Second goal: learn standard notation for banjo. I can read music, but for whatever reason learned tab for banjo.

It is no problem to not be able to read standard notation for banjo, because you’d pretty much never be given standard notation for banjo music. Tabs are always the notation given.

Except if I’d like to play music from a book. You can pick up a mandolin and play along a piano piece over the shoulder of the pianist knowing how to read music. Clarinet is a half step lower than piano so you transpose. Banjo I could play along if I learn to read music for banjo. Just something I’d like learn.
