Yep, the forward-reverse roll would be a great new one to try @subularia!
Discuss the Banjo lesson: Waypoints- Learning the Banjo Neck- G, C, & D Chords
Man alive! This lesson was so helpful. I’ve been playing for four years and have a long way to go until I manage to figure out this instrument. I have marveled at the ability of players to effortlessly zip up and down the neck, but I’ve struggled to understand how that really works. This lesson helped me appreciate how a simple movement of one finger, rather than moving the whole chord shape to a different position on the neck, may be all that is needed to move from a G to a C or a D to a G. I just spent an hour comfortably working up and down the neck and finding G, C, and D chords all over the neck and realizing how it might be better to be playing the 12 barre chord if I’m following it with a C, and using a G chord a few frets higher if I know a D is coming up. I even got frisky and tried some of these moves pretending I was playing in A without using a capo and, remarkably, I managed to pull it off. This lesson provided me with a big breakthrough moment. Thanks a bunch.
Thanks Ben. I’ll start giving the different rolls a try with this great lesson material. Thanks again.
Thanks Archie. I’ll give it a try.
