I hadnt changed mine for some time…
And oh what a difference it makes! Haha!
It amazes me sometimes when something as simple as a little piece of equipment upgrade/update can make such a difference

I had an issue when trying to put my new Banjo Ben banjo strings on today. Everything was fine until I got to the fifth string. I followed Ben’s directions as far as putting one twist on the post and then making sure the next twist wen underneath the first one. When I tried to bring it up close to being in tune, it would slip and get lower again. If I added more turns it would just keep slipping whenever it got close to being in tune.

I finally solved the problem by putting two twists on the post before going under the the tail end of the string.

Is this common or could I have an issue with my tuner? It seems to be working fine now and is holding tune.

The 5th string can be a bit of a bind to fit.

For the fifth string a lot of people will thread it through and then go around a half time and thread it through again. Then do two or three coils. It will not slip that way.
